10 things you shouldn’t miss at Made in Asia 2019

From 8 until 10 March, it is time for another edition of Made in Asia at Brussels Expo. Like every year, this event has an interesting programme, from cosplay to music. What events do Made in Asia offer this year? Just check out the list of 10 things to do to get inspired. It is possible to buy your ticket online and at the door. If you buy a ticket for Made in Asia, you can visit the event YouPlay!, the expo about gaming and video, for free. 

1. FATE GEAR

At the moment, FATE GEAR is touring Europe for the first time and they will perform on all three days during Made in Asia. The power metal group will perform on Friday from 13.00, Saturday from 14.00 and Sunday from 12.00 at the MIA stage in Hall 3. It is also possible to visit their booth (L.26) to buy their merchandise and get signatures.

2. Takahiro Yoshimatsu

During Made in Asia, several guests in connection with anime and manga will visit the event. You can meet Takahiro Yoshimatsu, one of the animators of the anime adaptation of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, including the short film Dragon Ball Z: Deadzone. He also worked on Hunter x Hunter (the second one in 2011), but also Trigun, Overlord and Atom The Beginning. Furthermore, he is also working on the manga of Yoshihiro Togashi. He will sign during Made in Asia.

3. Made in Asia loves Dragon Ball

If you are a Dragon Ball fan, you can get to enjoy several activities during Made in Asia. In addition of meeting Takahiro Yoshimatsu, you can visit the exhibition, unique in Belgium L’Expo des Légendes (Expo of Legends). This exhibition will not only be about Dragon Ball, but also Zodiac Knights, Saint Seiya, Sonic, Mario and more. At the Geek Market it is possible to find several DBZ figures to add to your collection. You can also join the Dragon Ball FighterZ competition at the booth of Press-Start or play Dragon Ball Super card tournaments.

4. Sato Yoshinaru

As mentioned earlier, during Made in Asia, several guests in connection with anime and manga will visit the event. Sato Yoshinaru is one of the biggest names in the famous Studio Ghibli ranks, he will attend Made in Asia for signing sessions. This artist is known for his work as character designer and animation director of Studio Ghibli’s My Neighbor Totoro and animator for the films Porco Rosso, Arrietty and Kiki’s Delivery Service.

5. Little Asia

It is possible to get into the atmosphere of Asia at the Little Asia culture village at Made in Asia, this year for the first time at the event. You can play games, such as Mahjong and Go, but also get an Asian massage, follow origami workshops, learn the basics of calligraphy and stamps. You can find Little Asia at Hall 4.

6. Cosplay Village

If you are a big fan of cosplay or do have an interest in it, you can enjoy the special Cosplay Village with several events, workshops, possibilities to meet cosplayers who are special guests, such as Annshella and Stylouz, and the possibility to buy or make cosplay accessories. The Cosplay Village can be found in Hall 4. Good to know: Made in Asia 2019 will also be the place for the selection for the World Cosplay Summit for Belgium.

7. Studio Ghibli Village

My Neighbor Totoro, the famous film by Hayao Miyazaki, will be 30 years old this year. This will be celebrated at Made in Asia with a Studio Ghibli Village, with nostalgic decors of several films and free photo booths. In addition, you can admire life-size statues and creations including a Laputa robot from Castle in The Sky.

8. Watch anime

In collaboration with Crunchyroll, you can watch the first episode of a big list of anime series during Made in Asia. The series does have French subtitles. There are two VIP rooms to see series such as Golden Kamui, ReLIFE, Black Clover, The Rising of the Shield Hero, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime and Radiant.

9. One Piece Museum

Fan of One Piece? During Made in Asia, it is possible to visit the O.P.P. museum of Dok, a sanctuary where you can find hundreds original One Piece documents of Studio Shueisha and Toei. Rescue Luffy, help Zoro finding his sabre back or become a sniper and become the hero of Usopp.

10. GOOD THRU DATE

GOOD THRU DATE debuted in February with their first European tour, with performances in France and The Netherlands. This new band will perform on all three days during Made in Asia. The group will perform on Friday from 17.00, Saturday from 12.00 and Sunday from 11.00 at the MIA Stage in Hall 3. It is also possible to buy their newest single and get a signature at their booth (L. 30).
