The organisation behind AnimeCon, J-POP Foundation, announced the main act of the 2019 edition: the music unit MYTH & ROID. The convention has indicated to reveal more surprises in the near future. The performance is planned on Saturday 15 June. Anyone who has a Saturday or a Weekend ticket can attend the concert. There is also a possibility to buy a VIP ticket, to assure a good view of the performance in the front seats.

The unit is centred around Tom-H@ck (guitar, composer, production), hotaru (lyrics, story planning) and bilingual vocalist KIHOW. MYTH & ROID debuted in 2015 with its first single L.L.L and made songs for various anime series such as Overlord, BBK/BRNK, Saga of Tanya the Evil and Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World. KIHOW joined MYTH & ROID in 2017 after being discovered by Tom-H@ck. Having lived overseas in the past, she is capable of singing in both English and Japanese. She is able to freely transform her singing style, which is why her voice is called a rainbow-coloured voice.

MYTH & ROID’s first album, eYe’s, was released in 2017 and is a collection of mostly songs that were used as anime theme songs. In February, the unit released their 8th single, titled shadowgraph, which was used for the opening theme of the anime series Boogiepop Never Laughs (ブギーポップは笑わない). The unit name MYTH & ROID is a combination of Myth that evokes the past and Android that evokes the future. It was conceived with the desire to open up a new world by combining the roots of each other. In 2018, the music unit performed for the first time in Europe during AnimagiC 2018.

AnimeCon 2019 will take place from 14 to 16 June at Rotterdam Ahoy. The theme for this edition is AnimeCon Goes South.
