One week after the convention Abunai!, the city Dordrecht will be the place for a new Japan-related cultural event with the name The Dordtse Matsuri (with Dordtse being the abbreviation for the city Dordrecht). The event is set on the last day of August, The Dordtse Matsuri will take place at the pop venue Bibelot.

In addition of the several activities, from video games competitions to several workshops, a dealer room filled with interesting Japan-related products and an outdoor food market to karaoke, the location will also have several performances from acts from Europe and Japan. These performances will take place at the Main Stage. The day will be started with a mystery DJ, who will warm up the audience with a mixture of Eurobeat, Japanese pop, Techno and Hardstyle.

HighTechLowLife

Cyberpunk band from the year 2069, HighTechLowLife, is the newest addition to the musical program of the Dordtse Matsuri. Combining industrial sounds with retro synths with raw guitars, drums, and a wide range of intense vocals – they bring immense energy to the stage – the audio and visual experience paints a picture of their inevitable dystopian cyberpunk future. The group started out in 2017 and comes from Okinawa.

VII ARC

Metal band VII ARC is one of the more known visual bands from Europe. The band performed in The Netherlands before, was support act for Visual Kei bands MORRIGAN, Madmans Esprit and Jupiter during their European tours, the band will now perform at the new event in Dordrecht as one of the main acts. Thanks to the support of their fans through Patreon, VII ARC was able to produce their music video NIL and the whole production of their album ATONIA -THE VOID OF TARTAROS-.

SPEAKERHEADZ

The Dordtse Matsuri will also provide for some dancing with the DJ Duo SPEAKERHEADZ from outer space. Earthlings call them Left and Right and they are best known for their debut single MOLL-E and their official Comic Con Anthem Victory. They have been performing at AnimeCon a few times, so they do know what they can expect from the visitors of The Dordtse Matsuri.

The Dordtse Matsuri will take place on Saturday 31 August from 11.00 to 20.00 at Bibelot. You can find Bibelot at the Energiehuis. Tickets for this event are € 12,50 and can be bought online.
