Hellfest announces line-up for 2021 edition

French metal festival Hellfest Open Air has announced the line-up for the 2021 edition. The festival had to postpone their 15th-anniversary edition earlier this year after the French authorities made a decision, due to the ongoing and difficult situation around COVID-19, which made it impossible to let the festival continue.

The 2021 edition will now take place from 18 to 20 June at the same location. 90% of the bands that were booked for the 2020 edition will, fortunately, join the 2021 edition. 13 bands couldn’t be confirmed for Hellfest 2021, including BABYMETAL. They were confirmed for Hellfest 2020 with 4 other Japanese bands, presented as The Rising Sun Raises Hell by the organisation. But with this new announcement of Hellfest for the edition next year, it means that Maximum The Hormone, CRYSTAL LAKE, envy and MONO (with Jo Quail Quartet) will be performing on Hellfest Open Air 2021 and that is still an impressive line-up of Japanese bands. With the knowledge that most of these bands were also planning a European tour around Hellfest and other festivals, it is expected that the summer of 2021 will be rather interesting for those who are interested in Japanese (heavy) music.

Hellfest still needs to announce 10 more bands for the 2021 edition and will continue with the preparation and promotion in September after taking a vacation but shared a Spotify playlist for those who want to prepare themselves for next year. Tickets purchased for the 2020 edition are still valid for the 2021 edition.
