YouTube Japan will host a four-day event, titled YouTube Music Weekend, from Thursday 3rd of December to Sunday 6th of December featuring concert footage from a variety of artists. At the moment of writing, a total of 47 artists and labels will participate in this event. You can expect daily premieres of concert footage and other content shared on the official YouTube channels of the artists.

The artists that have said to join this event are (in alphabetic order and participating artists are subject to change without notice): 絢香 (Ayaka) / [Alexandros] / いきものがかり (Ikimonogakari) / 嘘とカメレオン (Lie and a chameleon)/ 内田彩 (Aya Uchida) / Awich / AK-69 / 大森靖子 (Seiko Oomori) / ORANGE RANGE / 神はサイコロを振らない (Kami wa Saikoro wo Furanai)/ Galneryus / Creepy Nuts / GLIM SPANKY / くるり (Quruli) / GLAY /  GRAPEVINE / KREVA / Crossfaith / 倖田來未 (Kumi Koda) / the shes gone / 渋谷すばる (Subaru Shibutani) / SKY-HI / 高橋優 (Yu Takahashi) / ちゃんみな (Chanmina) / 超特急 (Bullet Train) / DISH//  / DIR EN GREY / Dragon Ash / Nulbarich / 人間椅子 (Ningen Isu) / Non Stop Rabbit / HYDE / Vaundy / 秦 基博 (Motohiro Hata) / 浜崎あゆみ (Ayumi Hamasaki) / PUNPEE / ビッケブランカ (Vickeblanka) / FAITH / 布袋 寅泰 (HOTEI) / MY FIRST STORY / マカロニえんぴつ (Makaroni enpitsu) / majiko / 三阪咲 (Saki Misaka) / ヤバイTシャツ屋さん (Yabai T-Shirts Yasan) / yonawo / YOSHIKI / Reol / wacci

As previously mentioned, the content will be shared on the official YouTube channels of the artist, but also on the YouTube Japan channel playlist. During the premieres, it is possible to support your favourite artists by sending in Super Chats.

Since it is currently difficult to hold live concerts, due to the ongoing pandemic (which has also led to the closure of venues), this event is a good way to see live footage of your favourite artists and to support them if you are able to.

Earlier this year, there was a ‘stay at home’ edition organised by YouTube Japan, under the name YouTube Music Week. This event took place during the Golden Week starting at the end of April each year. The special programme was held to promote the fact that people should stay at home, something that you would not expect during a special period like Golden Week, where most people in Japan take days off and travel around.
