SHAG, the psychedelic jam band led by SUGIZO – composer, guitarist, violinist, arranger, producer and well-known member of LUNA SEA and X JAPAN – announced that they will be streaming a concert live on the 20th of May. It will be the first live performance that will be streamed by this band. The performance is titled LIVE STREAMING FROM TOKYO EPISODE III ～THE SHAG STRIKES BACK～ and tickets for this stream will be available from the 12th of May.
The band got relaunched late last year, surprising many, and consists of six talented musicians playing, as they describe it themselves, the ‘dopest and most radical jazz-rock’. The band got revived after 12 years and is characterised by its emphasis on improvisation. The six members of SHAG are currently bass player KenKen, trumpet player Shinpei Ruike, keyboardist Kazuhiro Bessho, percussionist Kenji Yoshiura, drummer Yukino Matsuura and is completed with bandleader SUGIZO who plays the guitar and violin in the jam band.
An example of their performance can be seen below, recorded during their performance at jazz venue Blue Note in Tokyo, a branch of Blue Note Jazz Club in New York.
The first live concert streaming by SHAG on the 20th of May will start at 19.00 (Japanese time), which means 12.00 in the Netherlands and 11.00 in the United Kingdom. You can jump into the stream 1 hour beforehand to wait for the show to start, like at physical concerts.
There are two kinds of tickets available, a regular one for 4500 yen and a ticket with extra benefits for the price of 10,000 yen, where you can attend an online talk session and receive a live photoset with autographs of all members. The live archive will be in both cases available until the 27th of May, 23.59 (Japanese time).
