After being postponed earlier this year, the music event LOW POWER is now planned for 26 September 2021. LOW POWER is an event that focuses on low frequency and power with musical acts performing alternative and experimental dance music. The music event takes place in the club METRO, one of the famous venues in Kyoto.

Originally planned as an event with a small audience and broadcasted live on the Twitch channel of Metro Kyoto, due to the extension of the state of emergency, the venue decided to only hold a non-audience broadcast. This also meant that some of the announced performers had to cancel due to time restrictions.

The confirmed performances for the upcoming edition of LOW POWER are ICHION, Yasushi Yoshida and Kenichi Itoi, UxDxN, CeeeSTee and YYBY, with DJ C to enhance the atmosphere.

YYBY

Formed in 2009 as a three-piece, since the summer of 2021, the Kyoto-based band has become a four-piece. Their sound is born from the form of the band members and is based on a rhythm that is repeated without hesitation. YYBY build their grooves from the perspective of minimalism and DUB. The band has released two albums, and three EPs and also joined the Save The Metro compilations, with 58 other musicians, where 100% of the sales are donated to the venue. The four-piece is also the organisers of the experimental dance music event LOW POWER.

ICHION

It is not the first time that ICHION will perform at this event, as the duo has performed in 2019. At the upcoming event, the duo will be performing as the last act of the evening. ICHION started with activities in 2008 and consists of vocalist Kyra and Akira who plays the electronic instruments. The music of ICHION is based on Ainu and Zuni music in combination with electronic experimental music that incorporates homemade instruments made by Akira and environmental sounds. They describe themselves as NEO spiritual and include LED lighting in their performances, which contributes to a multidimensional cyber ceremony space. According to ICHION, they add LED bars to their stage for the performance to simulate the ceremony of a Shinto shrine.

Yasushi Yoshida and Ken’ichi Itou

Yasushi Yoshida is a vocalist and performer, in addition to his solo work and collaborative work with Ken’ichi Itou, he is active in musical units bonanzas, OBOO, and CTNU. Ken’ichi Itou is an electronic musician. Under the name PsysEx, he has been releasing his work in various media and performing live under the theme of polyrhythm and minimalism. He has been involved in a number of releases, including remix work, compilations and work under other names. Notable releases include an album on Haruomi Hosono’s label and collaborations with Atom™, Alva Noto and Oval.

UxDxN

In the bands ikkaku and olololop, UxDxN composes and performs his bass and omnichord, but in this solo show, he plans to focus on songs that feature his voice. UxDxN is also the composer for the band SAOLA101.

CeeeSTee

CeeeSTee is a track maker, producer and DJ from Kochi and part of the collective soO. He shares on his website: “Acid house is in my mind.”

The LOW POWER event is free to watch on Twitch, if you enjoy the event, there is a possibility to drop a donation through PayPal. Since the merch by the musicians cannot be sold physically at the LOW POWER event, it is now possible to get your merch and music through the webshop of LOW POWER.
