Abunai postpones 18th edition to winter 2022

“Third time is hopefully the charm,” the organisation behind Abunai! said in an announcement shared earlier this month. The Dutch anime convention has to postpone their event, the 18th edition, scheduled in February, once again. The new date is now the weekend of 12 to 14 August 2022 at the regular location, NH Koningshof Veldhoven.

Abunai! added the following to their announcement: “We want our event to be safe and complete, all delights included. At the moment, it is looking less and less likely that we’ll be able to hold our event in February and more and more likely that summer will be a-go go. We’d rather make the decision to move ourselves than to nail-bite in uncertainty. So. The good news: we’ll have a summer Abunai! once again! The bad news: you’ll have to wait a few months longer.”

Organising an event isn’t an easy task in itself, but with all the extra measurements and regulations that have been added since COVID-19, it becomes more difficult. Especially when these rules come and go and also come back again, because the situation is constantly changing and this creates uncertainty. While it looked good for a long time for Abunai! to take place in February, it fell apart earlier this month. The organisation behind Abunai! decided it was time to postpone the event once again, now taking place in the usual summer month, August.

It is possible to get your money back, if it doesn’t fit in your schedule. But if you can attend the event in August, you don’t have to do anything as the tickets you have purchased for the 2022 edition stays valid.

All changes of Japan-related events and events where Japanese musicians are planned to perform are compiled in a list that you can find here. This list will be regularly updated.
